UK receives Iran's package, renews call for talks

Iran's Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, submitted Iran's new package of proposals to P5+1 envoys on Wednesday.
Britain has renewed its offer for talks with Iran over its nuclear program after receiving Tehran's latest package of proposals on the issue.

Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Wednesday submitted the package to the ambassadors from China, France, Germany, Russia and Switzerland -- on behalf of the US -- and the British chargé d'affaires in Tehran.

"We acknowledge receipt of the Iranian paper, and remain committed to a meaningful dialogue to address the concerns of the international community relating to Iran's nuclear program," AFP quoted a Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokeswoman as saying in London.

"Our offer of talks on the nuclear issue (made in April 2009) still stands, and we hope that Iran will respond to this as soon as possible," she added.

Iran had said earlier that it would offer a package of proposals to settle the dispute with the West over the nuclear issue. The details of the new package have not been disclosed yet.
